LGA calls for Right to Buy reforms
The Local Government Association (LGA) has called for further reforms of Right to Buy to ensure sustainability of social housing stock.
The LGA is urging government to go further with its reforms of Right to Buy (RTB) to give local authorities more flexibility and control over how the scheme operates locally.
The call comes amid rising demand to buy homes through the scheme since discount changes in the Autumn Budget.

UK to hold largest ever national pandemic response exercise
The government has announced that the largest ever national response exercise for pandemics is due to be held in the Autumn.  
Ministers have also unveiled plans to better support vulnerable groups and train thousands of public servants  to handle a range of crises, including pandemics.
The measures are in response to to the Covid-19 Inquiry’s Module 1 report, which looked at the resilience and preparedness of the UK prior to the pandemic.

Homes England funding boost for small housebuilders
Homes England and Invest & Fund (a growing development finance lending platform) have announced an expansion of the Lending Alliance.
The partnership will now offer development loans of up to £4 million, at a maximum 70 per cent Loan to Gross Development Value and maximum 85 per cent Loan-to-Cost.
It is hoped that the partnership will facilitate the construction of an additional 600 new homes.

Wales launches Social Care Workforce Partnership
Wales has launched a Social Care Workforce Partnership, bringing together government, employers and trade unions to improve ways of working for staff in the social care sector.
Wales is the first part of the UK to have such a group.
The group has already consulted with the social care workforce and providers to determine what matters to them and ensure their voices are heard when determining the priorities for the partnership.

Scottish City Deals now worth more than £3 billion
According to recent figures, following the Chancellor's Autumn Budget, the total UK Government investment specifically on City Region and Growth Deals in Scotland has now reached £1.5 billion. With the Scottish Government is also investing £1.6 billion in the City Region and Growth Deals programme, the total investment is now more than £3 billion in total.
£527 million of the UK Government contribution was part of a nearly £1.4 billion package of local growth investment announced in the Autumn Budget.
