London housing waiting lists at 10-year high
Recently released figures show that the number of people on waiting lists for social housing in London is at a 10-year high.
There are currently 336,366 households on London local authority waiting lists for social housing, which is the highest figure for more than a decade and marks a 32 per cent increase from 2014. The previous record was 344,294 in 2013.
25 per cent of households on the waiting list in England are in London.

A new plan for 117 lower and zero-emission buses to clean up the city’s air pollution means that a Clean Air Zone charging motorists will not go ahead. Instead, Manchester will benefit from an £86 million scheme in clean up the region’s air using low and no carbon emission vehicles.

Wiltshire Council trials electric waste collection truck
Wiltshire Council has invested in an electric refuse vehicle, which will be trialled by its waste collection contractor, Hills Waste Solutions Ltd. The Volvo FE Low Entry Cab RCV will be trialled at operating depots and assigned to household waste collection rounds, initially starting in largely urban rounds in the northern areas of the county including Calne and Chippenham. It will later be trialled in the city of Salisbury. The trial will later look to assess the vehicle's performance in semi-urban, semi-rural, and finally the mainly rural rounds.
