As part of its 2018/19 budget, Worcestershire County Council has agreed to invest more than £18 million extra into supporting the county's most vulnerable people.
The budget includes the investment of £10.5 million into children's social care and a further £7.8 million into adult's social care. Additionally, aided by a 4.94 per cent council tax increase, there will be capital investment of £37.5 million on the county's roads and infrastructure.
Andy Roberts, cabinet member with Responsibility for Children and Families, said: "We are committed to improving the lives of Worcestershire's children and young people. Children deserve the very best start in life that we can give them. There is a lot more that we have to do to support the ongoing work to improve children's social care in Worcestershire. These additional funds will make a difference to children's lives and help us to deliver the improvements that we need to deliver."
