A new initiative has been launched to help councils boost charging provision for those that cannot charge their electric vehicles at home.

The Welsh government has announced a scheme to support local projects in coastal areas of Wales to tackle the climate emergency.
The fund will aim to help communities to deliver sustainable action which supports growth and recovery in local marine and coastal areas.
Projects which could benefit from the funding include those which develop skills, knowledge and networks to engage with marine and coastal issues and those which carry out scoping exercises to look at reducing carbon emissions in the marine and coastal environment.

Minister John Lamont has met with Scottish businesses, community groups and local partners in the west of Scotland who have received levelling up funding from the Government.
The minister visited Mull, Arran and the mainland, including council areas which have received more than £100 million.
The Minister said: "It was absolutely inspirational to see talented and committed people making the most of funding from the UK Government. We want rural communities across Scotland to thrive, and we are acutely aware that island communities face particular challenges.

Welsh health minister Eluned Morgan has announced an advisory panel to monitor and scrutinise Welsh Government plans to improve the provision of Welsh language care in health and social care services.
The panel will have eight members, chaired by Elin Wyn and will work to ensure progress is made against the actions set-out in the five-year plan, More than just words, which was launched last year. Elin Wyn is an independent member of Bangor University Council.

The Mayor of London has convened a Housing Taskforce to discuss the growing housing crisis across London and the UK.
Recent data from City Hall has shown a 41 per cent year-on-year drop in major planning applications referred to the Mayor. National forecasts are also predicting that housebuilding could fall to the lowest level since World War II.

A new £10 million government fund has been announced to support rural and local communities in setting up local energy projects that will provide local jobs and deliver energy security.
Both urban and rural communities are able to apply from early Autumn.
The funding is intended to help to kickstart projects including small-scale wind farms and rooftop solar partnerships, as well as battery storage, rural heat networks, electric vehicle charging points, and fuel poverty alleviation schemes.

Welsh Government launches publicly owned energy company
Welsh climate change minister Julie James and Plaid Cymru’s designated member Siân Gwenllian have launched a new publicly-owned energy company for Wales.
Ynni Cymru, based at M-SParc, Ynys Mon, is being established to expand community-owned renewable energy generation across Wales.
£750,000 has been given to 11 projects in the form of resource grants over the next three years.

The City of London Corporation has selected charge Point operator Qwello UK to undertake a full upgrade of the Square Mile’s electric vehicle charging points. 

The Scottish Government has announced funding for organisations helping people facing poverty and hardship.
Public sector and third sector partnerships can apply for cash grants and other essentials from the £1.6 million Cash-First Fund.
Up to £200,000 will be made available to partnerships including community food initiatives, local authority teams, and money advice services.

Millions of free meals are being handed out across the capital this summer, as recent statistics have shown that half of parents are struggling to buy food and essential items.
The meals are being provided through an emergency funding programme from the Mayor of London.
With support from City Hall, more than three million free meals have been given to children and their families since April. Hundreds of thousands more meals will be delivered over the summer holidays through the Mayor’s free holiday meals funding.
