In 2020 Wales became the first UK nation to guarantee free school meals for eligible families during the school holidays. Individual local authorities decide how to administer the free meal provision, either by creating lunches or by providing vouchers or direct payments to families.

The government has announced the launch of a UK Emergency Alert System with the capability to send alerts direct to mobile phones when there is a risk to life.
The system will be able to send urgent messages to nearly 90 per cent of mobile phone in a defined area and provide clear instructions about how best to respond.
The system has already been successfully test in East Suffolk and Reading and will now be rolled out across the country.
A country-wide test alert will take place on the evening of Sunday 23 April.

60 cultural venues are set to receive a share of £58.8 million funding. Those set to receive money from the Cultural Investment Fund include museums, cultural venues and public libraries.
The aim is to improve people's access to the arts, support local economic growth through culture and safeguard vital local collections for future generations.
The money will be used to transform, upgrade and create arts venues.
