The Environment Agency has expanded its flood warning service across Yorkshire so that more people can be warned about any imminent risk of flooding.
The new flood warnings will cover 3,786 properties and involve a warning message being issued when flooding is forecast and then again to warn users if impacts are likely. The warning system is now being expanded to properties that were previously considered too remote , rural, or difficult to warn of flooding because of lack of power supply.

The Department for Levelling Up, Housing and Communities and Department of Health and Social Care have launched and Older People's Housing Taskforce to boost suitable housing options for older people.
The government-appointed taskforce met for the first time in London. The Department for Levelling Up, Housing and Communities, working with the Department for Health and Social Care, has brought together a team of experts to lead the work. The group will report back to Government on how it can improve housing for older people.

The new guide is intended to help UK communities innovate and build smart cities while keeping data safe from cyber threats.
The new resource offers practical and accessible support to improve the cyber security of connected places or smart cities across the UK.

The government has announced that the £2 cap on some bus routes will be extended until 31 October. The cap will then be increased to £2.50 until November 2024.
Transport secretary Mark Harper confirmed £300 million of funding to "protect vital routes and improve services until 2025 that people rely on for work, education, medical appointments and shopping."
There will also be £200 million to continue capping single bus fares at £2 outside London until the end of October 2023 and then at £2.50 until 30 November 2024.

Homes England has launched its next five-year Strategic Plan to deliver quality, affordable homes and regenerating towns and cities.
The plan by the Government’s housing and regeneration agency sets out how it will support communities and families by enabling the delivery of more good quality, affordable homes alongside the regeneration of towns and cities across England.

The UK's first driverless bus has been launched in Edinburgh, with passenger service beginning on Monday 15th May.
Scotland's transport minister, Kevin Stewart, was joined at the launch at the Traffic Scotland National Control Centre by Ray O’Toole, executive chairman for Stagecoach, as well as representatives from each of the CAVForth partners.
The AB1 service is believed to be the first registered bus service in the world to use full sized autonomous buses.

A project to better protect 2,100 homes in Great Yarmouth from flooding has been completed.
A lot of Great Yarmouth's flood defences are supported by steel and concrete quay walls and are over 50 years old and reaching the end of their design lives.
The improved flood defences will support the economic growth and development of Great Yarmouth, which has the potential to support 34,000 jobs and bring £1.5 billion to the economy.

£2 million has been awarded to projects investigating the best ways to boost tree numbers outside of woodlands.
The projects will test new ways to increase tree coverage and strengthen biosecurity, while at the same time, helping to mitigate the effects of climate change and meet the government’s 2050 net zero ambitions.

Dundee Council has opened a new public EV charging hub with SWARCO Smart Charging which has particular focus on accessibility and accommodating the needs of drivers with a disability.

Transport for London (TfL) has awarded Zest a contract to provide and operate 39 rapid or ultra-rapid electric vehicle charging bays on public land, such as those owned by local authorities and the NHS.
The charging points will be in installed 24 locations in south and southwest London by the end of 2024 including outer London boroughs such as Sutton and Bromley.
The charging infrastructure will be placed in parking bays near key routes used for essential road journeys typically made by high mileage, commercial users - including taxis and freight.
