Utility companies support for Grenfell victims
A number of utility companies have announced a package of support for victims of the Grenfell Tower fire, alongside government funding.
Businesses in the energy and water sectors and power companies supplying energy to Grenfell Tower residents have agreed to provide all those affected by the tragedy with reassurance and support, including writing off any outstanding debts for energy bills for residents, while preserving prepayment and credit balances, and putting on hold any direct debit payments for Grenfell Tower residents.

Public sector can do more to reduce emissions
A leading lighting organisation has said that the public sector can do more to reduce their carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions.
Studying government data, through the CRC Energy Efficiency Scheme, Philips Lighting claims that only 32 per cent of organisations disclose emission reduction targets or performance against them in their annual reporting, with 15 per cent saying they don’t and 53 per cent refusing to disclose whether they do or not.

Help to Buy schemes help over 285,000 people
New Help to Buy statistics show that over 285,000 completions have taken place using one or more of the government’s Help to Buy schemes.
The Department for Communities and Local Government figures also revealed that more that 240,000 first time buyers are now on the housing ladder thanks to Help to Buy, while the Help to Buy: ISA has now helped over 960,000 people save towards their own home.
The North West, Yorkshire and the Humber, and the South West have seen the highest number of property completions using the Help to Buy: ISA.
