A new report has argued that access to walking infrastructure is not a priority for developers building new homes.

Dundee City Council is to outline nearly £350 million of investment for a building programme to cover the next five years.
The capital plan, to be discussed by Dundee City Council’s policy and resources committee on 30 October, will consider a number of projects, including the Waterfront and V&A Dundee, schools, an additional young persons’ house, affordable housing and the Regional Performance Centre for Sport.

New research by the RAC Foundation has revealed that up to 12 million driving licence holders receive a penalty notice each year.
The 12 million, roughly a third of Britain’s 40 million drivers, is broken down as eight million local authority parking penalties, 2.5 million local authority bus land and box junction penalties, as well as 500,000 late licensing and insurance penalties and one million speeding and red light penalties.

Derby City Council’s Hospital to Home (H2H) team has been shortlisted for the Social Worker of the Year Awards 2017. The team is competing for ‘Team of the Year’ in Adult Services.
81 social workers and social work teams from all over England have been selected as finalists across 16 different categories, celebrating the achievements of practitioners in both children’s and adult services.
The winners from each category will compete against each other to be named the ‘Overall Social Worker of the Year 2017’.

Scotland’s first hydrogen taxi is to begin a one year pilot in Aberdeen.
The Hyundai ix35 hydrogen fuel cell car was granted a private hire taxi licence by Aberdeen City Council in September and has now been handed over to Aberdeen Taxis who will run the vehicle.
The taxi will form part of the Aberdeen Region Hydrogen Strategy and Action Plan 2015-2025 which plans to trial a range of vehicles with different users across the region.
It joins a fleet of 10 buses, 14 cars (including the taxi) and four vans in the city.
The taxi was funded by Transport Scotland.

The same cladding believed to have contributed to the Grenfell fire is on at least 52 tower blocks in London, a BBC investigation has revealed.
Grenfell Tower had cladding made of aluminium sheets with a polyethylene core. The BBC has now found it on buildings owned by councils, housing associations and companies. Some may not be removed. The government says it is working with landlords to keep people safe.
Cladding samples from 294 buildings nationwide have now failed government flammability test, but it was not revealed how many used polyethylene.

West Sussex has been awarded Fairtrade County status by the Fairtrade Foundation for its commitment to the trading principles.
This follows a two-year campaign led by Fairtrade West Sussex, set up in 2009.
The local Fairtrade Steering Group, with the support of West Sussex County Council, has achieved the criteria necessary to be granted the award.

Plans to transform dementia care across Greater Essex have taken a step forward with the launch of a new joined-up countywide dementia strategy.
‘Let’s Talk Dementia’ has launched at an event at Chelmsford City racehorse. It builds on the pan-Essex mental health strategy announced in June 2017, a new Southend, Essex and Thurrock Dementia Strategy.

New steps are to be taken to deal with littering and those who throw rubbish from their vehicles, the Environment Minister has announced.
Cleaning up the streets and countryside currently costs taxpayers also £800 million a year and so on-the-spot fines for dropping litter will almost double from April next year from the current £80 to £150.
The fine is hoped to deter and punish those who continue to drop rubbish. In future, councils will also be able to impose these fines on the owners of vehicles from which litter is thrown, even if discarded by someone else.
