£215 million for council homelessness services
Homelessness Minister Heather Wheeler has announced that councils are set to receive a share of £215 million to prevent homelessness.
The funding, which will be made available in 2019, includes a £15 million fund for London councils to support their work together to prevent and reduce homelessness and is the latest funding from the third round from the government’s Flexible Homelessness Support Grant programme.

The Cabinet Secretary for Local Government and Public Services set out possible options on how this can achieved – from voluntary mergers, to a phased approach with early adopters merging first, followed by other authorities, to a comprehensive merger programme.
