Rough sleepers up 20 per cent since last Christmas
New figures show that levels of rough sleeping in the UK have risen by 20 per cent in just 12 months and doubled in the last five years.
The charity Crisis suggests 12,300 people are currently sleeping rough on the streets, while a further 12,000 will spend the night in tents, cars, sheds, bins or night buses during the festive period.

Birmingham CC reveals how Clean Air Zone will function
Birmingham City Council has published how its Clean Air Zone will work, which is due to be implemented from January 2020.
The zone will cover all roads within the A4540 Middleway ring road, and non-compliant vehicles entering the Clean Air Zone will be charged at £8 per day for private cars, taxis (both Hackney carriages and private hire) and vans, while HGVs, coaches and buses will be charged £50 per day.
