A new report has uncovered the limited powers that local authorities have to restrict advertising of products high in fat, salt and sugar.
Working with over 30 local areas around the UK, Sustain and Food Active say that this is despite the fact that many local authorities are located in areas with high rates of child obesity.

Under new proposals set out in the council’s draft Local Plan, vital green spaces across Bristol would be protected from future development.
Across the city, 159 open spaces in the city are proposed to become specially protected Local Green Space, a nationally recognised designation for open spaces of special status and importance to the community. A further 410 other valued open spaces will continue to be protected as Reserved Open Space.
