The government have announced their intention to reform the Building Safety Regulator (BSR) to speed up newbuild applications being renewed, in a bid to boost development.

Homes England has published statistics on housebuilding including housing starts on site and completions delivered by Homes England between 1 April 2024 and 31 March 2025. 
According to the figures, housing programmes delivered by Homes England resulted in 38,308 new houses starting on site and 36,872 new homes completed between 1 April 2024 and 31 March 2025. Starts increased by 5 per cent and completions increased by 12 per cent compared to the same period last year.

The Regulator of Social Housing (RSH) has published the findings from its latest quarterly survey on the fire safety of 11 metre plus buildings in the social housing sector.
According to the results, of the 17,391 relevant buildings reported, 99.9% had fire risk assessments undertaken and 1,897 (10.9%) were reported as currently having a life critical fire safety defect relating to the external wall system.
Of those relevant buildings with a LCFS EWS defect, 79.4 per cent are expected to be remediated within five years.

A Welsh local government fund is fixing and preventing potholes.
The local government borrowing initiative provides an extra £10m of revenue funding to local councils to enable them to unlock an additional £120m over two years of capital funding to accelerate the process of fixing local roads and pavements. 
Thanks to the funding, an extra 600km of the local road network will be resurfaced this financial year. Roads that are most in need of repairs will be renewed, with over 200,000 thousand potholes fixed and prevented, and pavements repaired.
