The government has hit its target to switch over a quarter of its central fleet cars to ultra-low emission vehicles (ULEV).
As set out in the Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs’ Greening government commitments in 2021 to 2025, the government was required to transition a minimum of a quarter of its car fleet to ultra-low emission vehicles by the end of 2022. As of the latest data from September, 25.5% of all central government cars were ultra-low emission vehicles, reaching the target 3 months ahead of schedule.

The government has announced funding for industrial sectors, such construction, mining and quarrying, to reduce their reliance on fossil fuels.
The £32.5 million funding package to support plans to develop greener technologies and low carbon fuels.
The funding is intended to help the industries move away from red diesel, which is also known as gas oil. Red diesel is often used for off-road, heavy duty vehicles and machinery like bulldozer and cranes.

Lightning-fast broadband is set to reach thousands of people in rural Cornwall, as local supplier Wildanet has been awarded £36 million from Project Gigabit.
The roll out will reach up to 19,250 homes and business in South West and Mid Cornwall.
It is also expected that 200 jobs will be created in the region. Wildanet also has a Training Academy and an apprenticeship programme.
Survey work will begin immediately and connection is set to begin in the summer.

More than 100 projects have been awarded a share of £2.1 billion from Round 2 of the Levelling Up Fund.
The money will be spent in England, Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland, with £627 million for better transport links, £821 million for community regeneration and £594 million to restore local heritage sites.
111 areas have been awarded funding from the fund which intends to create new jobs, drive economic growth, help restore people’s pride in the places where they live, and spread opportunity more equally.

The Government Legal Department (GLD) has signed an agreement with HMRC for GLD staff to move into Three New Bailey, Salford from April.
There are already GLD offices in Bristol, Leeds and London.
As the government's principal legal adviser, GLD is made up of nearly 3,000 colleagues with over 2,500 lawyers and advises the government on legal issues. The lawyers also represent the government in cases including education and transport.

The Department for Levelling Up, Housing and Communities has announced funding for brownfield sites to be redeveloped to deliver new homes.
Councils in England are able to bid for a share of £60 million from the Brownfield Land Release Fund 2, which aims to bring neglected urban areas back into use, support regeneration projects and boost local economies.
The funding is set to deliver 5,800 homes by March 2027, create around 18,000 jobs and help first-time buyers into homeownership.

Professor Richard Prager has been appointed chief scientific adviser (CSA) at the Department for Levelling Up, Housing and Communities (DLUHC).
Professor Prager is currently head of the Department of Engineering at Cambridge University and academic director of Cambridge Online Education. Professor Prager is also a chartered engineer and fellow of the Royal Academy of Engineering, the Institution of Engineering & Technology, and of Queens’ College Cambridge.

Frontline government staff are set to receive training to spot signs of economic abuse in order to support vulnerable people and prevent them from getting into debt.
A new toolkit has been developed, with guidance for frontline staff in departments such as HMRC and DWP.
The Economic Abuse Toolkit includes guidance on spotting the signs of economic abuse and creating an appropriate environment for victims to disclose their experiences. Staff will receive training on how to handle declarations sensitively and ensure victims get the support they need.

Both Inverness and Cromarty Firth Green Freeport and Forth Green Freeport have been selected to become Scotland's first Green Freeports.
Following an assessment and selection process led by the Scottish and UK governments, both Freeports will receive up to £52 million in start-up funding, as well as benefit from tax reliefs and other incentives.

The government has announced £230 million of funding for investment in football facilities across the UK.
£168 million will be invested into facilities in England, to be delivered by the Football Foundation - a partnership between the Premier League, The FA, and the Department for Digital, Culture, Media & Sport. Scotland will receive £18.1, Wales £12.6 million and Northern Ireland £6.29 million to be delivered in partnership with the Scottish Football Association, the Football Association of Wales and the Irish Football Association.
