The Environment (Principles, Governance and Biodiversity Targets) (Wales) Bill has passed through the Senedd.
The Bill establishes a new framework for environmental protection, creating an independent watchdog and empowering Welsh Ministers to set legally binding biodiversity targets.
Through the new legislation, an independent body responsible for holding public authorities to account on environmental law will be set up - the Office of Environmental Governance Wales.
This body will scrutinising the Welsh Government, Natural Resources Wales and local authorities.

Homes England has opened the bidding process for its Social and Affordable Homes Programme 2026-2036 (SAHP).
Registered providers are encouraged to bid for grant support from at least £27 billion fund worth of funding.
The programme has been designed to accelerate the delivery of hundreds of thousands of new homes for social rent, affordable rent and shared ownership.

The government has announced that councils struggling to balance their books will be granted financial flexibility by the government to ensure they can continue to provide vital community services.
Subject to meeting conditions, some local authorities will be issued support, through Exceptional Financial Support. This will allow them to use their capital funding, including receipts from sales and borrowing, to cover day-to-day costs.

More than £17 million in rent payments has been saved over the last six months, by closing government offices in London.
10 Victoria Street is the third central London office to close in the last six months. Its closure will save £8.8 million a year. The Rookery and Clive House closed last year. The closure of all three will save around £17.5 million a year.
1,000 staff have been relocated from 10 Victoria Street into other available spaces such as 100 Parliament Street and 26 Whitehall.

The government has announced it will be spending £3.4 billion to transform outcomes for children with SEND in mainstream schools.
The investment comes with the government set to unveil its schools white paper, which will include reforms to the SEND system.
Through feedback given to the government, the most consistent issue parents have raised is that SEND support is currently provided too late and even then, only after a fight.
