Hampshire launches local government consultation
Hampshire County Council has launched a consultation on the possible reorganisation of its local government structure, following recent debate.
The consultation, which will run for eight weeks, is ‘leaving all options open’ to residents, who will be able to share their views on whether they would like an elected mayor, a county split of if they are happy with the current structure.

£1.2bn Cardiff City Deal to proceed
The agreement signed in March with the Cardiff Capital Region (CCR) is due to go ahead, despite the current uncertainty surrounding Brexit.
The deal, worth of £1.2 billion, has been questioned since the referendum result, as part of the agreement includes a £106 million fund from the European Union.
However, Alun Cairns, Secretary of State for Wales, has confirmed that the deal still retains the green light after meeting with the leaders of the CCR.

8,000 new jobs created in the Northern Powerhouse
Over 8,000 new jobs have been reported by enterprise zones in the Northern Powerhouse over the past four years, the government has said.
It has been reported that enterprise zones in the North, which provide tax breaks and government support for new and expanding businesses, have attracted eight jobs per working day since 2012 and over £1 million per day in private investment.
1,220 jobs were created on northern Enterprise Zones in the three months to December 2015, an 18 per cent increase compared to the previous quarter.
