A report by the Joseph Rowntree Foundation has found the effects of poverty to have cost the UK an average of £78 billion per year, with the NHS bearing the brunt of the costs.

The Taxpayers’ Alliance has claimed that the HS2 project is an ‘expensive vanity project which must be scrapped’ in its new report.
The project, which will link London, Birmingham, the East Midlands, Leeds, Sheffield and Manchester, is predicted to overwhelmingly exceed its budget, and is likely to reach £90 billion, the Alliance report.

Lincolnshire Lakes project gets go-ahead
North Lincolnshire Council has given the green light to one of the north’s largest housing regeneration schemes.
The council’s Planning Committee has agreed to phase two of the £1.3 billion Lincolnshire Lakes development, estimating it will deliver 7,300 homes and 5,000 jobs.
