Cherwell District Council is planning to set up its own online lottery to raise money for local charities and community groups.
The lottery will provide money to voluntary and community groups which benefit people in the Cherwell area. 50 per cent of the proceeds will go to nominated organisations, with 10 per cent sent to the central fund which the council would allocate.
Six local authorities currently run community lotteries, with Aylesbury Vale District Council raising £65,000 in 2015.

The Mayor of London has announced that a record £154 million per year will be spent on cycling in the capital over the next five years.
Forming part of the Transport for London (TfL) draft Business Plan, the funding will allow Sadiq Khan to deliver his manifesto commitment to be the ‘most pro-cycling mayor London has ever had’ - moving the city on par with Denmark and the Netherlands in terms of its cycling offering.

Transport Secretary Chris Grayling has outlined plans to change the way in which England's railway network is run.
Grayling stated his intentions to bring ‘back together the operation of track and train on our railways’, offering forward his plans for each rail franchise to be run by joint management teams.
The changes will start when each franchise is renewed in the future. Then, each franchise will be run by one joint team, with the franchise owners and Network Rail will continue to exist separately.
