Plans for a new mile-long Sturry link-road in Kent are now out to public consultation.
The proposed road will link the A291 Sturry Hill with the A28 Sturry Road.
It aims to reduce traffic through the centre of Sturry, relieve congestion at the Sturry level crossing and cater for extra traffic from the new housing proposed at Sturry, Broad Oak and Herne Bay.
Three new roundabouts, a three metre wide shared cycleway and footway between the A28 and A291, and six pedestrian crossings are included in the plans.

A major £30 million flood scheme to protect homes and businesses in Mytholmroyd has been approved by the Calderdale Flood Partnership Board.
The board approved the allocation of funding for the scheme following a detailed investigation carried out by the Environment Agency to secure the highest possible standard of flood protection for the village.
The Environment Agency will now apply for planning permission and construction is expected to commence in the autumn.

Norfolk County Council councillors have given the green light for the creation of a new Digital Innovation and Efficiency Committee.
The committee will lead the council’s work to build a solid digital infrastructure for the county that will serve the area’s growing technology industry, as well as local businesses and residents.

Rural companies in Lancashire are being encouraged to apply for a share of £2 million to grow their business.
The funding, which comes from Lancashire County Council, can support a range of activities such as farming, rural services, business development, culture and heritage, and forestry. It is part of the Lancashire LEADER programme 2015-2020.
The funding can be used to buy equipment and expand businesses, among other things, as long as the projects involve business growth, job creation or both.

Lancashire County Council’s new administration has committed to make an extra £1 million available to support bus services.
The investment will increase the current budget from £2 million to £3 million.

Essential road upgrades that will bring new businesses and jobs to Peterborough will start Thursday 3 August 2017.
Extra capacity is being added to two junctions: junction 17 of the A1(M) and junction 1 of the A1139 Fletton Parkway to the south west of the city. It will enable the expansion of the Gateway Peterborough business park.
At the same time, Cambridgeshire County Council will fully resurface the A1(M) junction 17 roundabout.

A £5 million project to improve Jaywick Sands road is now complete after two years.
More than £5 million has been spent to build new road surfaces and improve street drainage in 31 of Jaywick Sands’ roads in a project led by Essex County Council.
Residents have warmly welcomed the improvements as they have solved specific access and safety problems, and lifted the area visually.
John Aldridge, chairman counsellor, Essex County Council, said: “I am delighted to see the works done to transform the roads and pavements in Jaywick Sands.

Winchester City Council is investing £100,000 on developments to an area of open space in Abbotts Barton.
The new facilities, which will be in place by the autumn, will include new footpaths and improved access to the open space, a trim trail, new seating, stone fire circles and a sculpture trail.
The improvements have been decided following a series of consultation events, which resulted in a consultation day held in February. The event was attended by over 120 local residents who were able to talk to officers and discuss their ambitions for the area.

Over £10 million has been approved to support the delivery of infrastructure, Chelmsford City Council has announced.
Chelmsford City Council has announced that £10 million has been allocated to a range of projects using funding secured via development that is taking place in the city.
It is being directed to a range of infrastructure projects including parks, sports facilities, open spaces, flood protection, health care, public realm and highway improvements and affordable housing.

More than £3 million a year could be saved if Surrey residents put their food waste in a caddy rather than the rubbish.
It costs less than half to recycle food waste through anaerobic digestion compared to throwing it in the rubbish bin.
Recycling all food waste would make savings to protect other council services like social care, libraries and schools.
Anaerobic digestion uses food waste to generate green electricity which goes into the national grid to power homes and make fertiliser used in farming.
