People with disabilities are being charged £3,800 by Cornwall Council for a designated parking bay outside their homes.

A contract with liquidated construction company Carillion to carry out work in Oxfordshire has been terminated early.
The county council paid Carillion £10.65 million to cover work already completed and to bring the end of the contract forward from June this year.
Oxfordshire County Council signed a 10-year contract with the firm in 2012, but last year agreed to transfer back most services except facilities management.

The health of children in England is being harmed by public sector cuts and ‘disjointed’ government policies, a report has found.
The Royal College of Paediatrics and Child Health (RCPCH) has published a follow-up to its State of Child Health report in which it says the government had failed to improve care in a number of ‘fundamental areas’, such as by banning junk food advertising.
It said the government had not made the same improvements as in Wales and Scotland.
The government said ‘world-leading plans’ for child health were in place.

A hostel for homeless people has been opened by Manchester City Council as part of its commitment to reduce rough sleeping.
The property in Openshaw has undergone extensive refurbishment and will rehouse people who are ready to move on from temporary accommodation but aren’t ready for a permanent tenancy.
The property is a large shared house providing 13 beds for single people who have been homeless.
