Campaign launched to recognise local gov workers
UNISON has launched a new campaign to help raise the profile of it’s 600,000 local government members.
Including social workers, librarians, housing officers, refuse collectors, cleaners, homecare workers, youth workers, environmental health inspectors, and many more, the union has launched its Local Service Champions campaign to ensure their efforts are recognised.

£3 million scheme opened to regenerate village halls
A £3 million fund to improve village halls and better connect rural communities across the country has been launched.
With more than 10,000 village halls across the country, these spaces provide vital hubs for communities to connect, collaborate and celebrate. Thanks to the Defra investment, village hall committees can now apply for grants of up to £75,000 towards refurbishment and alteration of their buildings, from improvement works on existing facilities through to new meeting rooms.

Campaign launched to tackle electoral fraud
A new campaign has been launched by the Electoral Commission to encourage people to protect their vote ahead of May’s local elections.
Launched in partnership with the Cabinet Office and Crimestoppers, the independent crime reporting charity, the ‘Your vote is yours alone’ campaign aims to help voters understand the different types of electoral fraud offences that can take place in a polling station, or when completing a postal vote, and to empower people to protect their vote.
