National Grid has revealed that clean energy has nudged ahead of coal and gas in Britain.
For the first time since the Industrial Revolution, Britain is obtaining more power from zero-carbon sources than fossil fuels, with the milestone passed for the first five months of 2019.
The transformation, 48 per cent of generation for clean energy against 47 per cent for coal and gas, reflects the precipitous decline of coal energy, and a boom from wind and solar.
