Free digital skills training for Liverpool residents
Hundreds of Liverpool City Region residents are set to benefit from free training in the digital skills needed by local employers.
The Liverpool City Region is one of the first six areas nationally to introduce the ‘Digital Skills for the Workplace’ course, which is part of the government’s Digital Bootcamps programme. The training is aimed at helping participants to find jobs in the growing digital and tech sector.

Empower councils to tackle short-term lets
Oxford City Council has called on the government to follow Scotland’s lead and empower local authorities to crack down on short-term lets.
The Scottish Government is planning to introduce new laws that will enable councils to regulate short-term lets, to ensure properties are safe and do not negatively impact on the local neighbourhood. It has launched a final consultation on the plans.

Labour’s Tulip Siddiq has accused the government of serial incompetence in delivering childcare support to working families.
The Shadow Minister for Children and Early Years pointed to data from HMRC from earlier this year which found that only one in six parents who were eligible to access support through tax-free childcare have done so, with the government failing to build public understanding of the policy, leaving many families unable to access support that they are entitled to.
