Cornwall Council pledges to tackle ‘perfect storm’ housing crisis
Cornwall Council has restated its commitment to helping residents affected by the unprecedented pressure on housing in the region.
New action set out by the authority includes providing hundreds of temporary and emergency accommodation places so local people can be housed without worrying about being asked to leave at a moment’s notice, as well as building more council houses as well as affordable homes for local people to rent or buy.

Latest London borough joins TfL’s e-scooter trial
Following a public consultation, Camden Council has agreed to join the Transport for London rental e-scooter trial.
TfL has been working with London boroughs and other organisations such as the Metropolitan Police and London Councils to develop proposals for a rental e-scooter trial in London. The aim of the trial is to provide an alternative option to public transport, taxis or private cars.
The council undertook a consultation in June and July, with the feedback providing valuable information on how the public and key stakeholders perceive the proposals.

£4 million fund to increase community led affordable housing
Communities will be given more opportunities to build homes in their neighbourhood thanks to a newly-launched £4 million fund.
The new grant programme, launched by Housing Minister Christopher Pincher, gives community-led housing groups better access to high quality, affordable housing that meets the needs of local communities.
The funding will help community groups meet a range of costs incurred in trying to develop housing. This could include paying for searches, administration costs or legal advice, design work and planning applications.
