The savings have been achieved trough a combination of price and demand related savings on common goods and services, leveraging relationships with suppliers and spending controls.
The report also outlines that the CCS will continue to improve people capability through the recruitment of specialist senior staff members who are ‘highly adept’ at driving savings, as well as investment in technology, specifically the Crown Marketplace, which it claims is key to improving organisational capability to support more efficient service delivery.
In the Foreword to the report, CSS chairman Ed smith writes: “…this is just a start and there is much to do as we meet the agenda for this Government and become much better at delivery, relationship management and technology enabled process excellence…
“Some key building blocks have been put in place over the course of the year… The senior management team has established a new governance structure, which has improved control and reduced organisational risk, particularly in the latter part of the year.
“There has also been much work carried out to increase organisational capacity to service more customers and higher volumes of business in both our direct buying services and advisory services.
“We have improved capability through a combination of the recruitment of commercial specialists, ongoing restructuring of the business and establishing an innovative arrangement with an industry partner to accelerate savings delivery and to uplift capability further.”
