Cornwall will hope to continue benefiting from European Union (EU) funding by maintaining its Brussels office, despite the vote to leave the EU.
In the UK referendum in June, which saw a slim majority vote to leave the EU, Cornish residents themselves voted 182,665 to 140,540 to also leave.
The Cornwall and Isles of Scilly Growth Programme, the EU funded economic regeneration programme, is worth nearly €604 million.
A spokesperson for the council said: “The Cornwall Brussels Office has been invaluable in making sure that Cornwall made the most of available EU funding and in ensuring that our voice has been heard in shaping EU policy.
“We have no plans to close the office in the short term as it is unlikely that the UK will leave the EU within the next two years.”
