The Honourable Mr Justice Swift has been appointed deputy chair of the Boundary Commission for England (BCE).
He will hold the role from 16 February 2024 to 15 February 2027.
The BCE is an advisory non-departmental public body sponsored by the Cabinet Office.
As required by the Parliamentary Constituencies Act 1986, The Boundary Commission for England reviews the parliamentary constituencies in England every five years.
Appointments and reappointments are regulated by the Commissioner for Public Appointments, and have been made under Section 3(a) of Schedule 1 of the Parliamentary Constituencies Act 1986, and are in line with the Governance Code on Public Appointments.
Having studied at Oxford and Cambridge Universities, Mr Justice Swift was called to the Bar (Inner Temple) in 1989; and called to the Northern Ireland Bar in 2008. He has been a High Court judge since 2018, and sits in the King’s Bench Division.
He has also been Judge in Charge of the Administrative Court since March 2020.
