Leeds City Council announces Olympics parade

Leeds City Council has announced it will hold a homecoming parade to celebrate the achievements of Yorkshire’s Olympic and Paralympic athletes.

The parade is aimed at giving the region’s sportsmen and women the ‘recognition and appreciation’ they deserve.

Judith Blake, leader of Leeds City Council, maintained that the date and full details of the event are still in the process of being finalised, but that it is due to take place some time in October.

Meanwhile, Manchester City Council is set to host the main homecoming parade, welcoming Britain’s Olympic and Paralympic athletes.
