The mayor of London, Sadiq Khan, has confirmed plans to deliver 284 new, net zero homes in north London. All of these homes are set to be affordable.

Having purchased the North Middlesex University Hospital site in 2019 and 22, the London mayor will work with Vistry Group and The Hyde Group to develop the land into a liveable community space. Plans include 1,500msq of new green space for the local community, a nursery, community café to connect residents with the hospital campus, as well as a new office building.

Half of the new homes will be at social rent and the other half will be shared ownership, and will include low-rise flats and terraced priorities ranging from one-bedroom to four-bedroom homes. All of these homes will be dual aspect and triple glazed, and connected to Enfield’s new borough-wide energy network, which provides low carbon heat directly to the homes without the need of a boiler, reducing energy costs. This means all homes will be energy efficient.

This is part of Mr Khan’s commitment to building 40,000 new council homes by 2030, and to deliver thousands of affordable homes for Londoners across the capital.

On his new project, the mayor of London said: “I’m determined to do everything in my power to make housing more affordable and sustainable for Londoners, which is why I’m partnering with Vistry Group to deliver 284 new homes at North Middlesex University Hospital — a 100 per cent genuinely affordable housing scheme.

“In addition to deliver much-needed new homes, this l landmark development will feature new green spaces and first class community facilities — including a new nursery and café - serving not only future residents, but the wider community as a whole.

“Tackling housing pressures in the capital and delivering affordable new homes for Londoners remains a top pretty for me as we work together to build a better, fairer London for everyone.”
