More London devolutions plans likely

The proposal to devolve further financial powers to London has gained the support of Communities Secretary Greg Clark.

Following the EU referendum outcome on 23 June, London Mayor Sadiq Khan explained that the capital should get more control over public services.

Speaking to the Financial Times, Clark said: “I am very keen to devolve more to London and I think [mayor] Sadiq Khan has already shown himself to be a pragmatist that wants to work well with central government, to the advantage of London and the country. I would expect London’s initial devolution to be followed by further powers.”
