Sir Keir Starmer has vowed to "hit the ground running" with a focus on delivery from day one after the Labour Party defeated the Conservatives at the general election.
After being appointed prime minister last week, Starmer has set to work over the weekend by beginning a tour of the UK.
He has already assembled his cabinet, including Bridget Phillipson as Secretary of State for Education and Wes Streeting as Secretary of State for Health and Social Care.
As well as this, Starmer is the first prime minister in 14 years with a mandate in Scotland.
He visited Edinburgh during his tour around the UK, and met with first minister John Swinney at Holyrood.
He said his party would work for every single person in Scotland, making "self-interest" the politics of the past.
On his first day as prime minister, Starmer also confirmed that the Rwanda deportation scheme will be scrapped.
This was included in Labour's manifesto pledge. The financial implications of scrapping the scheme and the total bill to the taxpayer are not yet known.
He has announced plans to meet with leaders of Wales and Northern Ireland on the next leg of the tour.
