People who receive support from adult social care in Leicester are being asked to help improved the design and delivery of the services.
Leicester City Council's social care and education department is part of Making it Real, a national scheme which sets out what good adult social care should look like.
A key part of the Making it Real framework is "co-production", which involves people receiving support from adult social care working with council staff to advise, support and challenge them on the way services should be provided. The council is calling for more people to join the Making it Real group.
According to the council, co-production has already led to improvements in application forms for services, and in helping to find out how adult social care can help people with the things that are important to them.
Ruth Lake, director of adult social care and safeguarding said: “We’d love to hear from people who want to work with us to make a positive contribution to the development of our adult social care service. Group members don’t need any professional qualifications, just experience of social care in Leicester.
“They will need to be willing to take part in meetings, workshops and training sessions, and to commit some time to working with us between meetings. In doing so they will be able to make a huge difference to how we improve services in Leicester.”
A member of the Making it Real group who receives adult social care support said: “Being part of the making it real group helps me to relax, knowing I can trust adult social care to listen to me and people like me.”
