The government has launched three new task forces in the new Office for the Prime Minister & Cabinet aimed at tackling the cost of living, local regeneration and essential services.

The three taskforces will coordinate departments and ministers, focusing on the priorities set out by the Prime Minister to Cabinet and driven forward by First Secretary of State, Louise Haigh.

The taskforces will be fully integrated with No10 and across government to deliver the change the public expect to see.

The cost of living taskforce will look to address the long-term issues facing families. The government says action has already been taken in this area, including cuts to bus fares, support with energy bills and cracking down on subscription traps.

The public control taskforce will examine how public control across housing, water, energy and transport can be utilised to return them to public service, and bring down costs for families.

The community renewal taskforce will work with local leaders to create a genuine plan to rebuild Britain, without just replicating previous high street strategies. Communities will be supported to drive through solutions, and deliver growth in every postcode.
