Glasgow to host Scotland’s first low emission zone

Scottish First Minister Nicola Sturgeon is expected to announce Glasgow as the first region in the country to implement a low emission zone to tackle pollution.

Sturgeon, who will be speaking at the Scottish National Party Conference, will announce that the city’s bid to create a low emission zone has been successful, after Glasgow City Council revealed plans for the one to encourage bus operators to switch to lower emission vehicles.

The Scottish Government has pledged to introduce low emission zones in Scotland’s four biggest cities by 2020.
