The Old Palace

At the very heart of Hatfield Park, the Old Palace stands as an outstanding example of medieval architecture and history, renowned in particular for its exquisite brickwork. Acquired by King Henry VIII as a nursery for his children, the palace has a rich royal history. The future Queen Elizabeth I spent a happy childhood in the Old Palace and held her first council of state here as a young monarch.

Modern meetings, historic grandeur

The Old Palace is the perfect venue for hosting a wide range of events, from corporate gatherings and private parties to wedding ceremonies and receptions. The historical ambience, combined with modern amenities, provides a unique setting for any special occasion.

The Banqueting Hall, the centrepiece of the Palace, features beautifully shaped original roof timbers, presenting a stunning backdrop for your next event.

The enchantment of a Knot Garden and Solar Rooms

Surrounding the Old Palace are the Knot Gardens, meticulously designed to offer a serene outdoor experience. The gardens are perfect for outdoor receptions or a tranquil stroll, allowing guests to immerse themselves in the beauty of nature and history combined.

The Solar Rooms within the palace offer splendid views of the gardens, serving as ideal spaces for more intimate gatherings or as a peaceful retreat during larger events.

The Riding School

Constructed in the early 19th century, The Riding School was once the centre of a busy stable yard and was used for equestrian training. Whilst retaining its original charm, the space also combines with contemporary sophistication, offering a unique backdrop for any event.

The Riding School is a perfect blank canvas that can be transformed to match your vision, whether you are planning a celebratory dinner, a conference, or a celebration of marriage.

The expansive, versatile, open-plan layout provides extensive room for customisation, ensuring each event is as unique as you want it to be.

Tradition combined with modernity

The Riding School presents a harmonious blend of old and new. The high vaulted ceilings and
original brickwork exude historical grandeur, whilst state-of-the-art technology ensures your event runs seamlessly. The unique combination of historical allure and modern facilities, flooded with natural daylight from the glass roof, provides a stimulating environment for brainstorming, networking, celebrating special occasions and creating inspiring events.
