The Homes and Communities Agency (HCA), has confirmed £14.8m funding for approximately 390 new homes to be started this financial year in Essex.
Projects are being funded from the National Affordable Housing Programme, and more than half the schemes that will receive funding are located within the Thames Gateway regeneration area of Basildon, Southend and Thurrock, with a total investment of £7.6m.
The rest are spread across the county and in total will provide homes for approximately 1387 people on the housing needs list.
All bids were assessed for quality, strategic fit, value for money and deliverability.
Schemes being supported in Essex via Local Authority Areas include Basildon, with 37 homes and 164 people housed, Brentwood with 72 homes and 295 people housed, Colchester with 79 homes and 221 people, and Thurrock with 65 homes and 177 people housed.
All funding is yet to be transferred.
