Government spending over £25,000 published
The government has published hundreds of documents detailing government department spending over £25,000 over the last six months.
The data release is part of an drive to make government more accountable, efficient and transparent and will be released on a monthly basis from now on.
data.gov.uk has been set up to give the public and developers easy access to data from all levels of government.
Tender documents are part of the latest release of data. Government buyers are required to publish details of the goods and services that they are seeking to buy from businesses.
This information is made available for the public to view, download and re-use.
There are more than 100 tender documents currently published with buyer requirements, ranging from dancing at the Olympic Games to maintenance of government buildings.
Minister for the Cabinet Office Francis Maude said: "It is our ambition to make the UK the most transparent and accountable government in the world."
"We’ve already released a revolutionary amount of data over the last six months, from the salaries of the highest earning civil servants to organisation structure charts which give people a real insight into the workings of government and is already being used in new and innovative ways."
