Oil and gas strategy published in bid to boost jobs

By pledging to maintain a fiscal programme that provides certainty to firms and introducing measures to plug engineering skills gaps, it is hoped that thousands of jobs will be created as a result of greater activity in the industries.

Business secretary Vince Cable explained the efforts will also be made to improve efficiency in supply chains and facilitate growth in a range of areas.

"[This] is a strategy that all sides are committed to, so that future decades of investment and growth can be maintained in the North Sea," he said.
And with the government announcing that £7 million will be dedicated to building a new research facility, jobs in the oil and gas energy sectors could be created as a result of future developments.
