The final results for the English local elections, Scottish Parliament and Welsh Senedd elections are in.
In England, Reform UK has made big gains at the expense of Labour and the Conservatives.
Reform UK has won 1,454 councillors (up 1,452), while Labour won 1,068 (down 1,498). The Lib Dems won 844 councillors (up 155) and the Greens won 587 (up 441). Meanwhile, the Conservatives won 801 (down 563).
Reform made gains in Sunderland and Barnsley, which had been Labour for 50 years, and won Suffolk and Essex councils, which have traditionally been Conservative.
Reform also won control of Havering Council, their first London borough.
The Green Party won its first ever elected mayors in Hackney and Lewisham and also won control of Waltham Forest council. It also took control of Norwich council.
However, as is usual with local elections, only a third of seats were up for grabs and Labour still remain in control of more councils than any other party. Currently, more councils are under no overall control than under the control of a majority party.
Several councillors have already resigned or been suspended or put under investigation by their party, less than a week since the result.
Reform UK told ITV news that Glenn Gibbins, who was elected as a councillor in Sunderland, has been suspended pending an investigation, after social media posts were found where he said Nigerians should be melted down and used to fill potholes.
Another Reform councillor elected in Essex has resigned after posts on social media allegedly celebrated the rape of a Sikh woman, called white people "the master race" and called Muslim people "rats". Stuart Prior has resigned from his newly elected roles on Essex County Council and Rochford District Council. His Reform party membership has been revoked.
Ben Rowe, who was elected a councillor in the Plymouth Ham Ward, has been suspended from Reform UK pending investigation. This follows allegations that he urged rioters to "get rid of that filthy building", referring to a mosque, during the 2024 summer riots. He has also allegedly compared immigrants to rats and called Islam "a cancer".
A Green Party candidate in Lambeth, who was suspended from the Party at the time of the election, has been elected and will now have to sit as an independent or join another group. Saiqa Ali allegedly made a series of antisemitic social media posts.
In Scotland, the SNP won a fifth successive Scottish Parliament, but did not achieve an overall majority. 65 seats are needed for a majority and the SNP won 58.
SNP leader John Swinney retained his Perthshire North seat, but will need support from other parties to remain first minister. Labour and Reform both finished with 17 seats. The Scottish Greens won a record 15 seats, including their first constituency wins. The Conservatives won only 12 seats, losing their position as the largest opposition party, their worst ever Holyrood election result. The Lib Dems won 10 seats.
In Wales, Plaid Cymru won 43 seats, just short of a majority in the expanded 96-seat Senedd. Reform finished second with 34 seats. Labour finished third, on 9 seats, with first minister Eluned Morgan losing her seats. This is the first time in 100 years that Labour have lost a national election in Wales. The Conservatives won only 7 seats, losing 25 of their seats. The Greens won their first two Senedd seats and Lib Dems remained steady on one.
The results across the UK have led to calls for Prime Minister Keir Starmer's resignation. A number of Labour MPs and cabinet minister have reportedly urged him to quit. Nearly 80 MPs have publicly called for him to resign or draw up an exit timetable. Communities minister Miatta Fahnbulleh has resigned from government.
