West Cheshire plan to save £107m through public services

Cheshire West and Chester Council, and its partners, have submitted the plans to better integrate services sector and remove costly duplication across the public sector as part of the national Community Budgets programme.

Know locally as ‘Altogether Better’, the ideas are being reviewed by Whitehall to see how they can be rolled out across the rest of the country. These include getting more people into work, tackling domestic abuse and making better us of public buildings.

Chief executive of Cheshire West and Chester Council and chair of the Public Services Board (PSB), Steve Robinson, said: ‘The fact that we are one of only four places nationally asked to do this work is a clear statement about how committed our partners are to delivering the most efficient, high quality services to our residents.

‘I’m hugely optimistic that we can deliver on our promise to deliver better services for less. The Government’s Whole Place Community Budget Programme has provided us with the opportunity to go further, faster here in West Cheshire.’
