At UK Power Networks we are committed to supporting Local Authorities on their journeys to achieve Net Zero.
More than 80% of Local Authorities within our licence areas in London, the South East and East of England are aiming to be Net Zero and carbon neutral before 2050 and we are here to help them.
Data is important, but the interpretation of that data leads to the real benefits for customers. That’s where the Your Local Net Zero Hub comes in as a web-based digital tool help Local Authorities create their Net Zero plans.
The prototype, which was co-designed with local authorities through an extensive engagement programme, was launched in March 2023, and its first beta version was launched in July 2023.
It is a free, self-service digital planning guide for local authorities to support the best choices for communities in developing their Net Zero plans. The tool is there to help local authorities with activities such as planning their public charging networks and heat networks and siting Distributed Energy Resources in their areas.
And earlier this year, following consultation with customers to understand their needs, we published more than 150 datasets within it all aimed at supporting local decarbonisation.
The outputs and underlying data will also be able to be shared with residents and local stakeholders to collect feedback and ensure whole community buy-in.
We believe that this tool will materially support local areas in formulating their decarbonisation plans. Our aim is to have all local authorities in our licence areas signed up by April. Our Local Net Zero team is a key part of how we interact with our customers, and we are working closely with customers to get the most out of the tool.
The team of dedicated Net Zero associates has been established to facilitate local Net Zero plans, providing expertise from the electricity sector to complement local knowledge to create credible, ambitious and actionable decarbonisation plans. We hold regular webinars, engagement sessions and are always on hand to answer Local Authorities questions. We hope that by doing so we will be contributing to the communities we serve and realising tangible benefits of decarbonisation to our local stakeholders.
So join us on our journey. If you have not already received a call from one or our team contact us now at yourlocalnetzerohub.co.uk and let us help you navigate through the energy landscape to help you achieve Net Zero.
