External Insulation Ireland (EII) have recently, after a rigorous tender and audit process on both product and system, were awarded and have successfully completed the contract to externally insulate 48 apartments in Dalkey, Co. Dublin, Ireland.

The project was to externally insulate 4 blocks of apartments each constructed of cavity wall construction with 70mm cavity insulation built in the 70’s. The apartments were originally built to afford each with a balcony sea view resulting in a very complicated layout. The works required a very sophisticated scaffolding layout  including working platforms to the parapets and chimneys

This project involved the application of the NSAI certified PAREX USA External Wall Insulation System. Applying 100mm graphite enhanced EPS insulation to the existing walls both mechanically and adhesively, with polymer modified basecoat, an embedded fibre alkali resistant mesh, second polymer modified basecoat primer and finally applying the acclaimed coloured acrylic render finish. This achieved a wall u-value of 0.19 w/m²k.

Together with the expertise and experience of the applicators and the user friendly PAREX USA system EII were able to complete the project in 12 weeks.

The External Wall Insulation system has been fully tested and certified and its unique salt sea spray resistance certification, colour fastness and durability will give the apartment owners piece of mind over the next few decades.
