Joint inquiry launched on long-term social care funding

The Communities and Local Government and Health Committees have launched a joint inquiry on the long-term funding and provision of adult social care.

Ahead of the government's forthcoming Green Paper, which will contain proposals to reform care and support for older people, the inquiry will seek to identify funding reforms that will command broad consensus to allow progress in ensuring the long-term sustainability of both the health and care systems.

Submissions will target how to fund social care sustainably for the long term, as well as the mechanism for reaching political and public consensus on a solution.
