Lovell will use £3.44 million Homes and Communities Agency funding to build a development of 38 new council houses in Lambourn Road and Rose Hill in Oxford.
The homes for Oxford City Council will consist of 16 three-bedroom and two five-bedroom houses as well as 10 one-and two-bedroom flats and 10 two-bedroom bungalows and is set to be completed by March 2011.
The new properties will meet Level 4 of the Code for Sustainable Homes and will be built using a timber-frame system and will incorporate other sustainable features including air source heat pumps and photovoltaic technology.
Graham Bourton, head of Oxford City Homes, said: "The Lambourn Road development will be a great addition to the community. We are pleased that the new homes will offer a high level of sustainability."
