Aberdeen Council to consult on waste energy plant

Aberdeen City Council is set to consult on plans to create a £120 million ‘waste to energy’ plant to deal with 150,000 tonnes of rubbish produced by the region each year.

The proposals of application notice has been submitted for a site at East Tullos, to process non-recyclable waste and generate heat and power, to provide low-cost energy.

It is hoped the project will help the region meet national recycling targets and prevent so much waste ending up in landfill.
