Keep up-to-date with free local authority seminars at RWM 08, 16-18 September, NEC Birmingham
Public sector waste and recycling staff face a tough and complex job making sense of food waste collections, climate change policies, MBT trials and PFI tenders. And with landfill tax set to double by 2010, the pressures on councils to find new waste solutions and reduce carbon emissions is greater than ever before. Latest developments Stay up-to-date with the latest legislation and technology by visiting RWM, the biggest and best-attended recycling and waste management exhibition in the UK. It takes place 16-18 September, all under one roof and in the most central venue in the UK, NEC Birmingham. Pre-register now at www.rwminfo.com for free entry and organisers will keep you up-to-date with news about the show as it is revealed. You can also use the online Plan Your Visit facility to select the product areas you are interested in and produce your own tailored route planner. This year, in response to visitor and exhibitor feedback, organisers have introduced a separate seminar programme dedicated entirely to local authority issues. The local authority seminar theatre, endorsed by the Local Authority Recycling Advisory Committee (LARAC), will cover issues facing council waste and recycling departments and the contractors and reprocessors they work with. Industry experts from the public and private sector will be giving insight and guidance on upcoming legislation (day one), kerbside collection (day two) and PFI projects (day three) using real case studies. Following its successful launch at RWM 07, the dedicated Talking Climate Change zone will once again provide you with a convenient opportunity to attend specialist seminars about the subject and speak to companies and organisations exhibiting there. The free sessions will include practical information on energy and engineering for climate change, measuring carbon footprints and examples of how climate change can be addressed through recycling and waste management. RWM is pleased to announce that JCB are once again partners of the RWM outdoor demonstration area, where visitors can see the latest vehicles and plant in action. FAUN Municipal and Zoeller Waste Systems are among the companies taking part in live demonstrations.
New exhibitors Local authority visitors will find companies representing all parts of the waste sector from recycling and waste management contractors, to bin and container manufacturers, composters, municipal vehicle hire companies, software solutions and a full range of consultants, associations and trade organisations. The growing RWM exhibitor list includes newcomers Nathans Waste Savers and Chemtec Waste Management (both textile recyclers) and Griffith Elder & Co Ltd (who will be exhibiting portable weighbridges). New names in the outdoor area include Vauxhall Motors, Bobcat, Turmec Engineering, NTM GB, Whale Tankers and Dulevo (the first sweeper company to exhibit at RWM). Registration for RWM 08 is free. To register online go to www.rwminfo.com or call 01923 690663.
